A map of three different territories will be presented to you, the player, a section at a time after completion of certain missions. The three different territories are; New Austin – Modeled after Texas, West Elizabeth – Modeled after an area in Pennsylvania, Nuevo Parasio – Modeled after a border town in Mexico.
On the map
Many symbols on the map identify many people, places, or things in the territory. Such symbols are;
Wagon wheel - Coach or wagon ; Medical bag - Physician ; Bottle - Saloon ; Telephone Pole - Telephone ; Train - Train station ; Card - Gambling table ; Green house - Save point ;
Blue house - Camp site, hotel, or other, for saving game ; Large alpha numerics - Individual by which missions begin ; Arrow - Points north ; Red Dot - Enemy ; Blue dot - Ally or other ;
Yellow dot - Mission objective ; Red or Blue dot with star - Sheriff or deputy ; Red or blue dots with arrows - indicates above or below the player ;
Large red circle transparent - Enemy searching area ; Red skull - Bounty ; White skull - Bounty poster ; Red bar to right of map - Amount of deadeye ;
Blue bar to left of map - Tiredness of the horse ; Eye - Individual that witnessed a crime ; Round checkerboard - mission end point ; Plant - vegitation that can be sold ;
Gun - place to buy weapons ; Half a wagon wheel and hat - stage coach ; Film strip lookin thing - theater ; White well - Trade goods store ; White triangle in black dot - stairs.

Lunar symbol - Unknown ; Hand - unknown, only seen around cattle pens ; Light blue dot - unknown ; White dot - unknown ; Question mark - unknown ; Squirrel - unknown ;
Radioactive symbol - unknown.
Mini map
There is also a mini map at the players disposal during gameplay. All symbols on the map will also be on the mini map to aid the player without having to pause the game.
